Surrounded
January 3rd, 2006
With Your blessings I’m surrounded
Where sin was grace abounded
I wait for You
My heart takes hope
My strength is Your salvation
Your goodness I’ll see
In the land of the living
You’re the Giver of good gifts
You bless with benefits
Great is Your faithfulness
Your compassion’s infinite
Each morning it is true
That Your mercies are new
With Your blessings I’m surrounded
Now I’m singing all about it
You made me glad
I shout for joy
My song is Your salvation
Your goodness I’ll see
In the land of the living
You’re the Giver of good gifts
You bless with benefits
Great is Your faithfulness
Your compassion’s infinite
Each morning it is true
That Your mercies are new
This song started in the summer of 2005 when Ty, Christa and I were all at vacation at my parents house. I wrote a blog about God’s blessings in my life. Ty picked up on the idea and started a song. I came down the stairs one morning and heard him strumming and humming…“With your blessings I’m surrounded, where sin was grace abounded…” My brother Ben suggested the title Surrounded, an idea which I’d been thinking about from Psalm 32:7. We worked on the song for a long time in our old Godsong studio and put it up on the site on New Years 2006.
